[REVIEW] : Poppy Dharsono Cosmetics

Hello gorgeous, welcome back with me JennTan! This post is dedicated for another local brand launched by well-known figure, Poppy Dharsono. She is a former model at France while she was studying fashion there, and after coming back to Indonesia she started her career as fashion designer and ended up launch her own beauty brand. This cosmetics have been exist since 1989, and grown bigger since then. Me myself, has been holding my curiosity about this product but ended up creating a review at the end ;p Let's jump right in!

Well, let's get to know to the product first. Here I have three products of Poppy Dharsono Cosmetics; they are compact powder, eyebrow pencil, and lip cream. First, we're gonna talk about their compact powder. 

Poppy Dharsono Cosmetics Products

TWC (Two Way Cake)

Ingredients : 

Talc, Dimethiconol Stearate, Miica, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Aluminum Hydroxide, Nylon-12, Phenyl /trimethicone, Dimethicone, Bhylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, triethoxycaprylylsilane, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Bhylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Tocopheryl Acetate, Cetyl Esters. May contain Cl 77492, Cl 77491, Cl 77499.

Product claims : 

Silky smooth powder foundation that is lightweight and long-wearing in texture. Its oil control formula is created to conceal imperfections whila providing the face with a matte finish that can make the skin looks smoother. It contains Vitamin E (hydrating and antioxidant) and UV protection. Apply dry for sheer coverage or wet for a more complete coverage. 

Poppy Dharsono Cosmetics Two Way Cake

Packaging : I love how pretty the packaging is, the gold box especially. It makes the product looks elegant and pretty, and they seemed complete with a mirror and sponge. well, me myself prefer using brush or beauty blender to blend the twc better on my face.

From my experience using this TWC, they truly have coverage as face powder. It has sheer to medium coverage, but can be built up for better coverage. At first I tried applying the two way cake powder onto my face using the sponge inside the packaging, trying to cover my eye bags, in one tap it can cover my eye bag well, then I put another layer just to make sure it covers well. Then I applied the twc onto the whole face, using face powder (I want sheer coverage only, don’t like too thick makeup on my face) but it turned out still have coverage and a bit patchy maybe because some part of my face are lil bit dry (applied it using buffing brush) so I tried to blend it all using wet beauty blender, just doing tap-tap motion all around without adding any powder anymore. I love how it turns out blend in well all around my face, except for the under eye, I can see it’s becoming patchy. You can put eye cream or more moisturizer for the under eye to look good (my under eye is a bit dry yes).

Eyebrow pencil

Poppy Dharsono Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil

Ingredients : 

Stearic Acid, Rhus Succedanea Cera, Cera Microcristallina, Polybutene, Ceresin, Talc, Hydrogenated Castor Oil Silica, /tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, [+/- Cl 77499, Cl 77491, Cl 77492]

Color : Black

[No expiration date]

Packaging : the pencil is actually pretty simple, only pencil with a cover. This makes traveling easier as with a cover your pouch can stay clean. But this one requires you to have your own spoolie brush, fortunately I have spoolie brush masami shouko and some other brush that are included in the other eyebrow pencils. It will be great if this eyebrow pencil also have the spoolie brush on the other hand. 

As for the pigmentation I think it’s pretty good, not too pigmented for a black eyebrow pencil (which I love this kind of pencil) so we can build up the color just like we want to. Also, it’s super easy to be blend so we can make such a gradation eyebrow. I love this one!

Lip cream

Poppy Dharsono Cosmetics Lip Cream

Ingredients:

Cylopentasiloxane, Butyl Acrylate/Hydroxypropyl Dimethicone Acrylate Copolymer, Mica, Isododecane, Disostearyl Malate, Rice (Oryza Sativa) Bran Oil, Titanium Dioxyde, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cyclomethicone, Disteardimonium Hectoride, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, popypropylsilsesquioxane, acryltes/polymethylsiloxymethacrylate Copolymer, Tocopheryl Acetate, Dimethiconol Stearate, Flavor, Polyethylene, Cycloexasiloxane, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Ethylbenzene.

Using Hazelnut Lip Cream for Contouring

Packaging - this has super simple packaging which usually found on local brand lip creams. well, this one has difference in the color, still with gold concept. I guess this brand puts gold everywhere as their signature. 

Honestly this bold lip cream has a really great pigmentation, what you see on my picture is not a full swipe onto my lips, I just put some on the inner side and do tap-tap motion to spread it all over my lips. I also use this lip cream as cream contour, which turned out well! I love how easy to blend this lip cream. The only thing I don’t like from this product is the smell, I love lip creams that has no chemical smell or soft fresh fragrance still good. As for you who have no problem with the smell, I guess you might want to try this product.
